Everyone Counts - Ramsey County Takes on the 2020 Census - November 13

Our November 13th League meeting featured Jolie Wood, from the Ramsey County Policy and Planning Division, speaking on plans Ramsey County is already beginning to put in place to make sure that everyone counts.  The meeting was 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the Autumn Grove Park Building, 1365 Lydia Ave. W. Roseville (corner of Lydia and Hamline).   The event is free and open to the public.

Wherefore the Metropolitan Council? - Saturday, October 20

The Council of Metropolitan Area Leagues of Women Voters (CMAL) presents a panel of experts who will answer questions about how the Metropolitan Council should be governed and what the current controversy is: Deb Dyson (Minnesota House legislative analyst), Keith Carlson (Executive Director of Minnesota Inter-County Association), C. Terrence Anderson (University of Minnesota Center for Urban & Regional Affairs), and Patricia Nauman or designee (Association of Metro Municipalities).  This event is part of the CMAL process for evaluating its current positions on the Metropolitan Council and will be the subject of consensus questions in February 2019.

Finding Common Ground on Gun Safety - October 16

How does gun safety impact public health?  Are sensible gun laws possible?  Is there a place for agreement on this controversial subject?  Join us on Tuesday, October 16th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2653 Victoria, Roseville (corner of Victoria and County Rd. C). Reverend Nancy Bence, Executive Director of Protect Minnesota, will discuss research, legislative possibilities and how Minnesotans can work together to reach consensus on gun safety.  Free and open to the public.

Viewing/Discussion of U.S. Drug Costs Documentary

The Roseville Area Advocates for Minnesota Health Plan will host a viewing of the documentary “Big Pharma:  Market Failure” on September 20. The 50-minute film explores the problem of extreme drug prices in the U.S. and how they impact the public, businesses and the economy. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at  the Autumn Grove Park Building, 1395 Lydia Ave. W., Roseville.
