Action Alert

ACTION NEEDED: Monday, June 5, 6 p.m., Roseville Economic Development Authority (EDA) meeting, Council Chamber, 2660 Civic Center Dr. The EDA is comprised of city council members and will meet just prior to the regular City Council meeting Bonnie Koch will testify on behalf of our League. We need to show up in numbers to demonstrate support for the resolution being voted on that will enable the developer (Sands) to go forward with seeking state funds from the Minnesota HFA for lifecycle/affordable housing. WEAR YOUR LEAGUE BUTTON OR COME EARLY AND GET ONE.

60 units of affordable housing are being proposed as part of a larger multi-housing development at County Rd D and Old Highway 8. 53 units will be workforce housing (60% AMI) and 7 will be for homeless people, 4 of whom have to be veterans. See the city webpage under News and then community feedback to learn more.

The EDA (city council members) needs to approve the use of TIF in order for the project to go forward. Currently there are only three votes, and as we know that was the case at the Twin Lakes site until one vote changed to no. SO IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR US TO BE THERE THIS TIME!

TPT is showing "Sold Out: Affordable Housing at Risk" on June 4th at 7:00PM and June 18th at noon on Channel 17, KTCI2.

Affordable housing is under constant threat from changing economic forces, leaving low-income residents with fewer and fewer options.  Produced by MN Housing Partnership. Their Executive Director, Chip Halbach, is speaking at our LWV meeting on Oct. 21.
